A few years ago I made a New Year’s resolution (I know, wow huh?) to read my Bible cover to cover in a year. I did great for months, but eventually my progress tanked. I still spend a fair amount of time in God’s Word, but it’s usually in study and most often on electronic versions on the computer or BlackBerry. I need to get back to just reading my Bible again.
Hopefully you saw my recent post Finally and already know that I plan to have a new Bible by September. My new goal is to finish my reading plan by August 31st when my new Bible is released. I’ve restricted my reading for this plan to a specific Bible and don’t count the time I spend in my other copies or digital versions. This makes my reading time more focused and will ensure my cover to cover approach.
In an effort to keep myself accountable I plan to track my progress on DoF. I usually read late at night so there may be a slight lag, but if you see me falling behind I’d love to receive some emails of accountability and motivation. I find that once I start it becomes addicting, but it’s too easy to get busy and fall behind.
As of today I have 152 days to go and I’m 1 day ahead in the NT and 7 days behind in the OT.
