DoF Verse of the week:

Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. - (1 Corinthians 15:34 ESV)

The Murder of Jesus

If you liked the movie The Passion of the Christ, I’ve got a book you need to read.  If you hated the movie The Passion of the Christ, I’ve got a book you need to read.  If you haven’t seen The Passion of the Christ, I’ve got a book you need to read.  If you claim to be a Christian, I’ve got a book you need to read.

Two years ago I read the book The Murder of Jesus, by John MacArthur. The book chronologically walks you through the events of the famous Passion Week.   With MacArthur’s historical expertise you’re drawn into the biblical accounts in a very real way. That in and of itself makes for an amazing read, but he doesn’t stop there. One of MacArthur’s main purposes throughout the book is to show God's sovereign hand at work in all the events leading up to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

I could say so much more, but would rather you read the book yourself. If you don’t have it, buy it. If you live close, borrow it; I’d love to loan you my copy.

"Don't ever pass over the meaning of the death of Christ on your way to celebrate the Resurrection. It is the Cross that gives the meaning to the resurrection life. Only insofar as we are united with Him in the likeness of His death, can we be certain of being raised with Him in the likeness of His resurrection."
